The #11 percussion caps were introduced to the muzzleloading market by CCI in 1975. Why? There is no mercury, no corrosives, and it is damned dependable. CCI currently sells four popular items. The #11M has more power than the #11 to ignite black powders.
The #10 cap is designed to accommodate revolvers with smaller nipples. They also sell Four Wing Musket Caps, which are designed to fit original and replica muskets and rifles. When shooting without a powder charge or bullet, only nipples with a wide internal diameter should be used.
When fired repeatedly without a powder charge, normal nipples can clog and cause the cap to shatter.
CCI recommends an interior diameter of 0.050 inch for nipples without powder charges or bullets. Clean the nipples and flame path during firing. Use only licensed muzzleloading shooting glasses.
